Warp drive is a form of hypothetical form of propulsion that has been featured prominetly in the fictional universe of Star Trek. It has also been featured in other works of science fiction, such as Darkspace, Red Dwarf, Stars!, StarCraft, Starship Troopers. Warp drive in fiction usually does not allow instantaneous travel between two points, like a jump drive or wormhole would, nor does it involve entering another dimension. As such, fictional spacecraft which travel using warp drive are still able to interact with normal space while doing so.

In the United States, the now-defunct Breakthrough Propulsion Physics Program of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has sponsored speculative work on warp drives.
