|United States presidential election, 2012|
|November 4, 2016|
|Nominee||Marco Rubio||Joe Biden|
|Running mate||Chris Christie||Hillary Rodham Clinton|
|States carried||28 + Puerto Rico||21 + DC|
Hillary Rodham Clinton declined to run. CNN announced the three front runners were Biden, O'Malley, and Dean. O'Malley was Biden's main challenge, however he pulled of a victory.
After Biden proclaimed Hillary as his running mate, the election became narrow. On election day, polls showed Biden in the lead. But Rubio was younger, and a stronger candidate than Biden. Also, by choosing Christie as the GOP's veep, Rubio won New Jersey, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania.
