It was the first election since 1944 where both candidates were from New York. At the Republican Convention, Trump was starting to gain momentum but that quickly died out once Ted Cruz, Senator from Texas and runner-up to Republican Nominee. It was truly damaged when Donald Trump's Acceptance Speech was shown by many as Hate Speech, Lies, and in some cases were small samples of plagiarism. The debates left no room for Trump while Clinton quickly highlighted his lack of experience on issues and the server lack of detailed solutions.
