E-Z Convention

Rule #1: Write down any modifier attached to one of the double-bonded carbon atoms. Then use a separate modifier for the other attached group, using E in the subscript before the central character if the two groups are of the E (trans) isomer and using Z if the the two groups are of the Z (cis) isomer.
