State of Texas
Demonym Texan

Texian (archaic)

Texas is the second largest U.S. state in both population (behind California), as well as size (behind Alaska).

Ethnic compilation

During the 2000s and 2010s, Texas, a state with a majority populace of Caucasians (as with most other states) saw a large growth in Hispanic population due to increased immigration from Mexico. In the 2020s, Hispanics' presence in Texas spiked vastly and by 2035, held the ethnic majority. Texas, a state stereotyped as being among the more racist in the nation, became one of the most diverse.

Texas also holds a large population of African-Americans, who makeup 23% of residents of the state.

Politics of Texas

The political leanings of Texas have changed drastically over the years. Originally a DNC stronghold, Texas eventually began being consistently carried by Republicans from 1972 to 2028. As more Hispanics began migrating to the state, restrictions on immigration and the push to make English the official language of the U.S. became more and more unpopular in Texas. Texas's moderating politics, in addition to the Republican Party's unpopularity, led to the state being picked up in the 2032 Presidential election by incumbent President Erica Braxton in an upset. From 2032 onwards, Texas became known as a swing-state, as "third-parties" and independents became more viable in elections.

In 2022, Texas elected it's first Hispanic Governor, Republican and Bush family member, George P. Bush. Bush would go on to be re-elected twice and unsuccessfully seek the Presidency in 2032 and 2040.
