The 2nd Greco-Turkish War is an ongoing war starting from March 5th, 2021. It began with a declaration of war due to Greek Nationalists being shot and killed by Turkish Cypriot police during a political rally at the Ledra barricade in Nicosia. On March 7th, 2021, Greek and Cypriot troops had invaded TRNC. After the 2018 Greek Election, the far-right Golden Dawn party assumed control of government as part of a coalition with the monarchist National Hope party. The Western and Turkic worlds were stunned and many countries began placing sanctions. Greece and Cyprus left the European Union and NATO on December 31st, 2018.

Background[]

After the 2016 election, the Golden Dawn rose in popularity, gaining 45 seats. A next election was schedueled in 2018. In July 2017, A Turkish Grey Wolves member had killed 10 people in an Greek-Turkish community before being captured by the police. This made Golden Dawn more popular. ANEL members have changed parties, which at 2018 made Golden Dawn the 2nd largest party. At election night, the Golden Dawn gains 96 seats, making it the largest party. A few months later, the ultranationalist ELAM party won the 2018 Cypriot presidential election, amid accusations of electoral interference by the Greek government. This prompted a massive round of sanctions on Greece and Cyprus by the European Union and NATO. In response, Greece and Cyprus left the European Union and NATO in preparations for their reunification with one another and geopolitical realignment with Russia and China.
