Prelude to War (2014-2017)

Liberal Revolutions- Between February and October 2014, the governments of Pakistan, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, Morocco and Afghanistan become democratic governments. These countries are also being increasingly liberalized.

Relations with Israel- On November 19 2014, the governments of Palestine and Israel sign the Amman Accords, which return Israel to its pre-1967 size, and gives Palestine more land. As a result, more Muslim countries become friendlier towards Israel.

Shift of Al-Qaeda's Power- Due to the liberal revolutions in the Levant and in Afghanistan and Pakistan, Al-Qaeda moves it primary base of operations to the Gulf and to Northern Africa.

Failure of the Arab Spring in North Africa- Due to the regional instability caused by the Arab Spring, most North African countries fall under Al-Qaeda rule, starting in 2015.

Creation of the Glorious Islamic Caliphate- On March 2nd, 2015- Al-Qaeda topples the Iranian and Iraqi governments, creating the Glorious Islamic Caliphate. Under the Caliphate, human rights are severly curtailed, and many former Iraqis flee to the Levant, while most Iranians flee to Pakistan.

Creation of Kurdistan- On May 19th, 2015- the Kurdish areas of the Caliphate, of Syria and of Turkey annouced that they were seceding from their respective governments to form Kurdistan.
