Pragmatism is particularly important when it comes to making predictions about the future. All too often, people are carried away with possibilities, and are not quite as skeptical of their own beliefs and prophesies as they should be. Only through practice and maybe a bit of talent for empathy or wisdom can futurologists begin to appreciate the discipline that is futurology and all its challenges.
- "These various concepts tie together to form a pragmatic worldview that I feel is fundamentally important to understanding the forces running the world of our future. The predictions I make can only be pragmatic to a point as the other concepts' limitations come into play, yet still can be considered much more reliable than various other instances. Indeed, the stress on diversity that I present here contradicts the stress on megascale engineering and "wishful thinking" that many other futurologist-wannabes have considered."
