Onigirivision International Song Contest (Japanese; おにぎりビジョン国際・ ソング ・ コンテスト), otherwise simplified to Onigirivision is an international song contest founded in 2016 in Tokyo, Japan. The objective of Onigirivision is to promote new and upcoming bands from all over the world. While originally Onigirivision was only open for Australasian countries, these plans were scrapped in 2018 with the entry of Canada. The contest was originally based on Eurovision, a European song competition founded in 1956. The show is broadcast in English, but has a commentator who speaks in the native language.
The rules are that every single participating country must submit a song, which will first be judged in the first vote round, where one song will be eliminated. This is the same with every round up to the fourth round. The fifth round is the quarter final and two songs will be eliminated, and the sixth round is the semi final, where three songs will be eliminated, meaning that 9 songs get eliminated before the final. At the final, the public votes for who they want to win.
