The Martian Colony League is a semi-potent federation, the local authority over Mars. Like the Moon (Luna), Venus and Mercury, Mars has multiple nation-states, and the Colony League doesn't have direct local authority.
The Colony League deals with expansion, as not all land is owned by the nation-states. It also deals with wars, nation-state disputes, Economic problems, and enviromental problems. They are viewed rather insignificantly, by all alike, as the nation-states are gaining in importance and power.
