The Conservative Party of the United States of America was founded on May 1, 2016, by Michele Bachmann supporters who were angry at the Republican Party for nominating moderate Jon Huntsman for the presidency. The Conservative Party was primarily made up of former Republicans, including many of the Tea Party Politicians. The Constitution Party, which nominated Bachmann as well, was absorbed into the Conservative Party over the next year. Although the Conservatives made a few gains in the 2018 congressional elections, they suffered severe defeats in State and National elections in 2020, and by 2022, they had ceased to be a major party. The Conservative Party broke apart in 2025, ending its eleven year existence. The more moderate fiscal conservatives rejoined the Republican Party, with social conservatism fading away over the next several years.
