The European Alliance is a regional political and military organisation based in Europe, which originated on the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel as a replacement for both the European Union and NATO. The European Alliance was formed response to the decline and fall of the United States, which began in the 2000s. It was not until the early 2020s that the groundwork was laid for the creation of such an organisation, as Europe was forced to play a greater and more independent geopolitical role. Macron's and Merkel's project was not formally created until 2031 and included most of the former EU member states. Since the early 2040s it has also been closely affiliated with the larger Eurasian Cooperation Council.
Eurocorps[]
Although each member state of the Alliance has its own national army, the organisation maintains one division-strong formation that acts as a rapid response force to carry out joint operations. The "Eurocorps," also called the European Division, includes about 10,000 personnel from European Alliance countries. It is headquartered in Luxembourg.
