The Copely Place bombing, part of the Boston Bombings, was an explosion that occurred in the Copley Place on July 18, 2028 and was carried out by the fascist group the Liberty Snakes. The bombing occurred roughly around 3:43 PM Eastern Time, when a handmade bomb exploded near the entrance of the Barney's New York clothing store. Another bomb exploded at the entrance of the Mariott Hotel on the MA-9 at 3:46 PM Eastern Time, where cars and people were attempting to exit the facility.

After it was revealed by the FBI that the bombing was carried out by American citizens, Congress passed the Expanded Surveillance and Safety Act of 2029, and heavily increased surveillance on its own citizens.
