The New Chinese Republic (2044 - ) is the successor state to the former People's Republic Of China (1949 - 2044) and is recognized as the official continuation of the Chinese state in the UN and other international organizations. It is vast nation with a population of 1.5 Billion, however birth rates have stagnated after the Lung Disease or "Guangdong Cough" of the early 2040's.

China has a long history, stretching back thousands of years to the original dynasties of ancient China. However, its recent history begun with the decline of the People's Republic Of China in the late 2030's and early 2040's brought on by excessive industrialisation in the early 21st Century. This eventually brought about the collapse of the Communist Chinese state in 2044. The ensuing civil war was quickly calmed by the military and the Chinese Nationalist Rebels were installed as the new Chinese Government.

Po Giaoping was sworn in as the first interim President of the New Chinese Republic. His administration moved quick to allow free speech and free elections by the end of the year, as well as stabilizing of the more lawless regions in China. His administration is also notable for the "Go Green" program, an urgently needed program to strike the source of the Guangdong Cough, the heavy pollution in China. This program seeks to replace China's old polluting infrastructure and factories, as well as replace the coal and nuclear power plants with renewable and enviromentally friendly energy sources.

China is currently a multi-party Parliamentary democracy, with elections scheduled for May, 2045. The government has made great strides to increase freedom with China, the Internet, press, as well as free demonstration are no longer regulated. However, deep corruption and inefficiency from the communist era still exist and will take several years to root out.
