Azerbaijan (Azerbaijani: Azərbaycan), officially the Republic of Azerbaijan (Azerbaijani: Azərbaycan Respublikası) is a trans-continental country located in the Caucasus. Azerbaijan is a home to around 10 million people. It covers the area of 86,600 square kilometres. It is bounded by the Caspian Sea to the east, Russia to the north, Georgia to the northwest, Armenia to the west and Iran to the south. The exclave of Nakhchivan is bounded by Armenia to the north and east, Iran to the south and west, and Turkey to the northwest. Baku is the capital of the country and also the largest city.
