Anti-Westernism (or alternatively known as Anti-Western Sentiment), is the term used to refer to people who hold an broad opposition, or hostility towards Western People, their politics, or their Governments. In the past, this term has only been used to refer to the sentiment in the Muslim world, But now, the term has been generalized into a simile with Anti-Capitalism, Anti-Americanism, and Cold War-era Ideas.
The First Cold War
The First Cold War, which was a political and ideaological struggle, saw the first major rise of this ideology. The Soviet Union and their satellite states, promoted a hatred towards America and Western Europe. This however, began to diminish when the Iron Curtain Fell in 1989.
