Adam Daniel Kinzinger (February 27, 1978 - is an American Republican politician the President of the United States from 2029 to Present . He was the last Republican elected to the office prior to the merger of that party with the Democratic Party in 2037, a merger he advocated for and helped broker.

Prior to the Presidency, he served as Governor of Illinois from 2023-2028, and as a U.S. Representative from 2011-2023. He was the Republican Party's Vice Presidential nominee in 2024, appearing on the ticket with Florida Senator Tom Rooney. Kinzinger, who served in the Air Force and Air National Guard and was stationed in Iraq twice, was the first President since George H.W. Bush to have been an active-duty member of the armed forces.

Presidency

As President, Kinzinger was elected at a time of economic turmoil left over from the U.S.-China trade war and the late 2020s economic stagnation, running as a "New Republican" who would moderate from the sometimes extreme progressivism of the late Castro years but who soundly rejected the hard-right policies espoused by the Conservative Party. Positioning himself as a capable technocrat, Kinzinger cut taxes and spending in his first year while trying unsuccessfully to reform several government departments. He became embroiled quickly in a variety of high-profile political clashes with Conservatives and Progressives in the U.S. House, especially after the 2030 midterms.

However his term in office was severely damaged by the drone hijacking crisis in December 2031. After the attack his administration was left on permanent crisis management mode, dealing with hearings on military security, robotics, and dealing with the highest oil prices of all time. Continuously embattled on fronts of national security and energy independence, and with the economy remaining weak he was defeated narrowly by independent California Governor and former internet entrepreneur Sean Parker in a five-way race in 2032, though he placed second in the popular vote and earned the third-most electoral votes.

Post-presidential Career

In retirement, Kinzinger became an elder statesman and traveled the world often on behalf of the United States, eventually appointed as Ambassador to Russia by President Ricky Dobbs in 2043. Kinzinger later operated the Kinzinger Center for Peace, a global think tank promoting democracy. He died in Chicago on March 14, 2063 and was given a full state funeral in Washington, D.C. He was close friends for life with fellow Illinoisan Republican Aaron Schock, who later served as Kinzinger's White House Chief of Staff.
