After widespread political division in 2016, Hillary Clinton won the Presidential election in a close race against Republican nominee Donald Trump. From 2016 to 2020, Clinton and her Vice President, Elizabeth Warren, did make some controversial decisions for America.
Many believed that Populist/Right Wing freedom of speech and opinion was violated, as "Safespace" culture was made popular by the Clinton administration. Also, terrorism and inflation was on the rise amidst her ongoing FBI investigation, still ongoing.
Come Spring, Clinton announces she and Warren will seek re-election.
Republican Primaries become a tight race between John Boehner, Tom Cotton, Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio. However, Boehner receives the nomination after a close convention. Boehner selects Paul Ryan as his Vice Presidential running mate.
A unique factor of the 2020 election was that, due to political division created in 2016; an official "Tea Party" was formed consisting of disenfranchised Republicans. The party decided not to host primaries, however- and had an exciting convention placing Sarah Palin against Mitt Romney; where Palin was awarded the parties' nomination. To much surprise, Sarah Palin selects Romney as her Vice Presidential running mate.
Although developments in her FBI investigation, and growing lack of trust, Clinton wins the general election with 268 electoral votes, compared to runner up John Boehner's 220, and Sarah Palin's 50.
